Both devices are now receiving the stable build over the air (OTA) across the world. As always, it is a staged rollout, meaning the OTA update will be available to a small number of users initially. Once OnePlus confirms the new software to be free of any “critical” bugs, it will roll out the update widely. The company has had tough times with software updates recently, so it wouldn’t want to take any chance. Nonetheless, if you’re rocking either the OnePlus 6 or 6T, the stable Android 11 update should be available to you anytime now if it hasn’t already. You should be notified of the new update once it becomes available. You can also manually check for the OTA update by heading over to Settings » System » System updates. Since it’s a big update — weighing around 2GB — we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file. It’s also advisable to create a backup of your important files to avoid any unwanted data loss.
What does OxygenOS 11 bring to the OnePlus 6 and 6T?
If you’re a OnePlus 6/6T user, there’s plenty to look forward to with this update. More so if you didn’t participate in the beta program. First up, OxygenOS 11 brings a refreshed UI to OnePlus phones. You’ll notice changes to several UI elements and icons. Of course, there are tons of new features as well. You’re getting all the perks that are part and parcel of Google’s Android 11, such as one-time permissions, privacy improvements, notifications history, a dedicated conversation section in the notification panel, and many more. On top of that, there are many add-ons from OnePlus as well. Game Space is gaining several new tools to help improve your gaming experience. Among other things, you can now choose what notifications come through when you are gaming. There’s also a new quick reply window for select messaging apps so you can respond to important messages while you’re playing games. The Ambient Display feature gets a new Insight clock style that changes according to the phone usage data.
