This RCS problem doesn’t appear to be widespread but existed for some Google Fi users since the Android 13 Beta days. A bug report was filed on the Android Issue Tracker in May. The company responded by saying that the issue was caused by an error related to provisioning. It recommended the following resolution to the affected users. However, the problem existed in subsequent beta builds as well. Google followed with another statement in June. “Thank you for reporting this issue. We have shared this with our product and engineering team and will update this issue with more information as it becomes available,” the company said. Unfortunately, the issue wasn’t fixed with the stable release that rolled out last week. Now, following the latest round of reports, Google has confirmed that a resolution is in the works. “We are aware of the RCS issue affecting a limited number of Fi customers and are actively working to resolve it,” a company spokesperson said (via 9to5Google). Hopefully, the said fix will arrive soon. We will keep you posted.
Android 13 is also breaking wireless charging issues for some Pixel users
Major software releases often come with bugs, causing various sorts of problems to users. Unfortunately, Android 13 is no exception, which means troubles for many Pixel users who have already installed the new version. Apart from this RCS problem on Google Fi, several Pixel 4, 5, and 6 series users have also reported issues with wireless charging following the Android 13 update. While wireless charging doesn’t work for some, others say charging is slow or the phone shows an error after a few minutes of charging. This problem appears to be pretty widespread and exists with Google’s first-party Pixel Stands as well as third-party wireless chargers. Forgetting or resetting the chargers solves things for some affected users but not for everyone. The company has yet to officially comment on these reports. Hopefully, it’ll roll out a fix or provide a solution soon. We will let you know once it does. But for the time being, be wary that Android 13 may break wireless charging on your Pixel too.
