The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has been leaked extensively over the past few months. The leaks have been so detailed that there’s little left to the imagination now. The latest leak confirms what we have been hearing all along.
Galaxy S22 Ultra key specs confirmed
Starting at the front, the Galaxy S22 Ultra sports a 6.8-inch curved display, which is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a QHD+ resolution (3080×1440 pixels) and an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. This screen can go up to 1,750 nits of peak brightness. Samsung is equipping the Galaxy S22 Ultra with its 4nm Exynos 2200 processor in the country, and possibly the whole of Europe. But in markets like the US, China, and South Korea, the device will likely come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It should get up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage globally though. Cameras include a 108-megapixel f/1.8 primary shooter with OIS (optical image stabilization), PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and laser autofocus. It is accompanied by a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and two 10-megapixel zoom cameras with an f/2.4 and f/4.9 aperture, offering 3X and 10X optical zoom respectively. The device can offer 100X digital zoom though, which Samsung calls Space Zoom. The Korean brand claims the rear cameras are covered in Super Clear Glass to reduce reflections. For selfies and video calls, we have a 40-megapixel f/2.2 camera on the front. The Galaxy S22 Ultra can record 8K videos with Samsung promising improved stabilization from higher quality footage. The company is also teasing “groundbreaking” improvements in low-light photography.
Don’t expect a charger in the box
The Galaxy S22 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. Samsung advertises 0-100 percent charge in less than an hour. However, you aren’t getting the charging adapter in the retail box. So if you don’t already have a 45W charger lying in your drawer, you will need to shell out a few extra bucks for one. Or maybe use a less powerful charge, the choice is yours. Other highlights of the Galaxy S22 Ultra include an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Android 12, 5G cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, IP68 rating, Wireless PowerShare, S Pen support, and DeX support. The whole package will measure 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9 (including camera bump) and reportedly weigh 227 grams (0.50 pounds). Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy S22 series at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on February 9. The event will also see the company’s Galaxy Tab S8 series of flagship Android tablets break cover. In other words, a lot is coming from the Korean behemoth in about a week. So stay tuned.
