The latest update for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is rolling out with firmware version R87*XXU1FVC8. The official changelog mentions un-detailed improvements to Samsung Health, the company’s health, fitness, and activity monitoring app. We might be getting minor improvements to the platform so Samsung didn’t bother explaining those. Perhaps there aren’t any changes to the consumer side of things. In addition, Samsung says this update will improve the system stability and reliability of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Once again, we don’t have any specifics regarding what has changed. Truth be told, the official changelog for every software update for Samsung’s smartwatches contains this pointer. So it’s likely all about underlying improvements. This update also brings the March 2022 security patch to the Galaxy Watch 4 duo. They jump from the January patch. The two Samsung smartwatches have been receiving these patches bi-monthly.

Galaxy Watch 4 receives another software update

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 4 series in August 2021. The new smartwatches debuted with Wear OS 3, a platform the Korean company and Google jointly developed. They were the first devices to run on Wear OS 3 and are still the only ones. No other device has received the new platform yet. Thankfully though, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are pretty solid devices. And with Samsung’s software support, they are always on the top of the game. The Korean company regularly pushes new updates improving the functionality and user experience of the devices. In February, the two watches received a massive update with tons of new features and improvements. Samsung is now following up with another update for the two. If you own either the Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, you should be receiving the latest update soon if you haven’t already. You should get a notification from the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone once the OTA package reaches your unit. You can also manually check for updates from the app. Simply navigate to Watch Settings > Watch software update to see if you have an update available.
