According to PC Gamer, a hacker by the name of teapotuberhacker hacked into Rockstar’s systems and stole nearly about 90 clips of gaming footage of the game. In all, it totaled about 3GB worth of footage stolen. To make matters worse, the hacker then leaked the footage freely on the internet for all to see. At this point, we know that Rockstar is investigating the hack and how the hacker gained ingress into the company’s systems. We should expect to hear more details about this hack as the company finds out more.

Rockstar confirmed that the GTA VI footage was leaked

Rockstar released an official statement confirming the leak and letting us know that it’s looking into the leak. “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems”. The statement goes on to say that the leak includes early developmental footage of the game. So, while the focal point of this leak is the footage, the statement alludes to other types of data being stolen. This could mean that other information about the game could also be leaked onto the internet. The game is still pretty far from being released, so any of the footage you see won’t be a reflection of the final game. It’s all developmental footage and for testing purposes. Since this is such a large leak, you should expect to see more on this story as it unfolds. As you can imagine, if the company were to get its hands on the hacker who did this, there will be some major jail time to be served. You’ll want to stay tuned for more information on this leak.
