The company plans to add a search feature to Watch History in the app could be key feature. However, it might not be available for all users yet, and it could take a few weeks for a global rollout. To access the feature, you need to update the app to v17.06.33. As you can see in the screenshot, a search bar has appeared in the Library > History section. This could be a practical feature as it paves the way for searching the previously watched videos without scrolling the page. To access the feature, check the Play Store to see if any update is available for your device.
YouTube brings search to Watch History
YouTube has been at the top of the news for its efforts to add new features and, of course, its NFT plans. We reported that YouTube was testing the “Smart Downloads” feature for videos a few weeks ago. The feature allows users to download 20 videos each week automatically. Dates back to August, we also reported that YouTube Music had added a new feature that allows users to search downloaded content in the app. This way, you can search for artists and albums for offline listening. It seems that adding search features to YouTube apps family is a priority for the company as even the YouTube Music app has recently got a searching feature. To dig more into YouTube news, it’s good to know that Google has recently decided to shut down the “YouTube Originals” program after five years. YouTube Originals was intended to produce long-form shows and videos and become Google’s trump card in the streaming market. However, the program has reportedly failed to compete with streaming platforms like Netflix.
