If you live in an area that has toll bridges or roads, no doubt you’ve had to do some extra legwork in figuring out a route beyond using Google Maps. Because while Google Maps can be a really useful tool for navigation, knowing any charges you might have to pay for taking that route is kind of important. But Which makes Google Maps less useful for those that have to take these routes.
Google Maps will list toll fees automatically
Not only are toll fees coming, they’ll be listed automatically within the app when you receive directions results. So there really won’t be any additional steps that you have to take. What isn’t quite clear yet is how Google plans to show the fees. According to the report, Google asked members about the feature in a survey. And is seeking input from members who take it on how it should put these figures into view. Some suggestions point to them possibly being listed along with the directions when you search for a route. Giving users the ability to see what the costs are before deciding on which route to take. That seems like the more logical way to go considering it would let users make a more informed decision. All in one app no less. This wouldn’t be the first time that Google added a feature that was aimed at making it easier to deal with payments. Earlier this year Google began rolling out the ability to pay for transit fares. All within the app. While you likely won’t be able to pay for toll fees within the app, simply knowing what they are will go a long way to make navigation easier for many users. Now all that’s left is to wait and see when Google decides to push the feature out. Since this was just discovered through a preview program survey, it suggests there’s still a bit of a wait.
