On platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Reddit have the ability to repost other people’s content. Unfortunately, Instagram has been the one left out. But there are those times when you see a post that you want to share with others.
When you repost Instagram Reels, they’ll have their own tab on your profile
Right now, Instagram is in the early stages of testing this feature, so don’t expect a launch to happen any time soon. This upcoming feature was first discovered by social media consultant Matt Navarra (via TechCrunch). He saw a tab on Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri’s profile. It’s a rotating arrows icon- think about the retweet icon. So, this tab will house all of a person’s reposted Reels. Alongside a screenshot of Mosseri’s profile, there’s also a leaked screenshot of the feature’s splash screen. It says that the feature is currently in testing, and a select few people will be able to see it. The splash screen explains how the feature works, but there’s not much to explain. When you repost a post, you’ll display it on your profile, and people will be able to watch and respond to it. The beauty of this feature is that when you repost, you’re automatically crediting the original creator of the Reel. There are far too many accounts on the platform that repost other creators’ work without giving due credit. We don’t know how widespread the test is. If you’re in the Instagram beta program, you might want to look out for any updates to the app. Just to be safe, make sure you always have the latest update to the app.
