Less than half of Galaxy S22 models are said to include Samsung’s AMD SoC
The report says that low yield and mass production issues are the reason it will happen. This will result in low availability of the SoC. That chip will be available in only a handful of markets, it is said. What’s interesting is that South Korea is not amongst the countries that will get the chip. That is, at least, what this report is suggesting. That is quite interesting considering that we’re talking about Samsung’s home market.
The Snapdragon 898 will allegedly step in
The Snapdragon 898 will likely fuel the Galaxy S22 handsets in most markets. That makes sense, if Samsung is really having issues with the Exynos 2200’s production. Also, we’re not sure that will be its final name, so take that with a grain of salt. The same goes for Qualcomm’s chip, by the way. In any case, the Exynos 2100, Samsung’s current Exynos flagship, fuels the Galaxy S21 handsets in Europe, Middle East, and Korea. That’s why it was assumed that South Korea will get the Exynos 2200, but that won’t be the case, it seems.
The Galaxy S22 series also won’t feature an under-display camera, as per rumors
Another possible disappointment for the Galaxy S22 is the exclusion of the under-display camera. Well, for some, that may actually be a plus, as the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s under-display solution doesn’t really shine… at least not at first. The images do look a bit washed out, it’s definitely inferior to regular selfie cameras in that regard. It’s also visible, unlike what the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 has to offer, for example. What Samsung may include in its new flagships is a better camera setup. The Galaxy S22 series, or at least the S22 Ultra, is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel main camera. Samsung may even partner up with Olympus, at least according to rumors.
