YouTube is celebrating this massive milestone with data insights that let you visualize how big one trillion views is. According to the company, the number accounts for views on every Minecraft-related video that was uploaded on the platform since the game’s first release back in 2009. The combined views add up to over 30,000 years even if each of them were just one second long. In Minecraft terms, “if each view were a Minecraft block 12 inches square, you could build a stack that reached from the Earth to the sun and back”. Even then, you will have about seven million miles to spare, enough to go around the earth hundreds of times. YouTube has also provided a yearly analysis of the 50 most popular Minecraft video creators as well as videos since 2010, with direct links to them. You can see the global data or country-wise breakdown for select countries. “Reaching one trillion views of Minecraft videos could not have happened without the collective efforts of tens of thousands of creators playing, experimenting, streaming, and uploading Minecraft videos,” YouTube says. As the data shows, Minecraft videos hit 500 billion combined views in 2018, more than eight years after the game’s launch. But the figure has doubled to over one trillion views over the next two to three years. “What future heights they hit we can only guess at, but as with this milestone, it will be fun to watch it happen,” YouTube concludes. The company has also released a video celebrating this milestone. The video looks back at some of the biggest moments in the game’s history.

With 140 million monthly active users, Minecraft is one of the world’s most popular games. Though the game was first released publicly in 2009, its full release didn’t happen until late 2011. Over the past decade, it has grown into the best-selling game of all time. And it is showing no signs of slowing down, as it crosses one trillion combined views on YouTube. According to Mojang Studios, the developers of this beloved game, this has happened for the first time in the history of the internet.
