According to seasoned Samsung leaker Ice Universe, who claims to have seen camera samples from the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the upcoming phone captures more detail and is better in terms of color and brightness as well. The improvements are so obvious that they speak volumes about Samsung’s AI (artificial intelligence) camera optimization abilities, he suggested. “The details are amazing, I have never seen a 108-megapixel camera with so many details,” Ice Universe sound quite excited about the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera software improvements. However, it may not just be Samsung who deserves credit here. Some of this may also have to do with the improved image processing powers of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/ Exynos 2200 chipset (it’s unclear which variant those samples are from). Either way, despite the hardware remaining unchanged from the previous-gen model, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may arrive as the best smartphone camera next year. And’s because there are reportedly a few more enhancements on the way. According to a new report coming from Korea, the phone will have a new feature called “Detail enhancer”. It could allow you to capture detailed close-up photos with the 108-megapixel primary camera. Samsung may be developing an improved macro mode for its next-gen flagship.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will pack new telephoto cameras
While the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra will use the same main camera and the ultrawide lens as the Galaxy S21 Ultra this year, Samsung is changing things a bit when it comes to the telephoto zoom cameras. We will reportedly still get two 10-megapixel sensors offering 3X and 10X zoom. However, these aren’t the same 10-megapixel telephoto cameras found in this year’s model. Reports suggest the new sensors have a smaller footprint and, of course, feature smaller pixels. Hopefully, we will see some software optimizations here as well. Samsung is expected to take wraps off the Galaxy S22 series in February next year. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be accompanied by two less-powerful siblings, the vanilla Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. We expect to hear more about the trio in the build-up to their launch.
