According to Digital Chat Station (via), the manufacturer will release a flagship featuring the Snapdragon 888+. This is in addition to the Moto Edge X, which will seemingly run on the newer Snapdragon 898. As per a recent rumor, the Snapdragon 898 will be known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 when it breaks cover at the Snapdragon Tech Summit later this month. It’s likely that the variant running on the Snapdragon 888+ will also belong to the Moto Edge series. The source went on to say that this smartphone will offer a lower price tag compared to the Edge X, though it’s likely to maintain its flagship status. While these two devices will likely sell exclusively in China, the company would inevitably offer other variants for global markets.
The Moto Edge X will launch in Europe as the Edge 30 Ultra
The Snapdragon 888+ is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888. Although it does offer improvements on paper, it offers similar features as the SD888. It’s worth noting that this ‘Plus’ variant has already appeared on phones like the Vivo X70 Pro+, ASUS ROG Phone 5S, Meizu 18s, Honor Magic 3 Pro, and a few others. While information is scarce right now, leaks have provided us with a decent picture of the Moto Edge X. This smartphone will reportedly pack a 6.67-inch FHD OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. It will also feature a triple camera layout on the back comprising two 50-megapixel and one 2-megapixel sensor. Meanwhile, the front panel will accommodate a 60-megapixel camera. Additionally, it will offer up to 256GB of storage, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging support. The flagship will likely feature Android 11 at launch coupled with Motorola’s My UX. Reports suggest that the Moto Edge X could likely launch in Europe as the Moto Edge 30 Ultra early next year. Speaking of which, the Moto Edge 30 Ultra appeared in convincing renders late last week. It confirmed most of the features we discussed above, including the triple rear cameras. We also learned that the phone could have a third physical button on the left-hand side, possibly for instant access to Google Assistant.
