According to new pre-order numbers, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are crushing it

The pre-order period ended on August 23, while the first units got opened by consumers on August 24. The company received 920,000 pre-orders for its foldable smartphones. Consumers seem to be far more interested in the Z Flip 3, though. According to a report by Naver, 70-percent of those pre-orders were for the Z Flip 3, while the remaining 30-percent were for the Z Fold 3. In other words, around 644,000 pre-orders were for the Z Flip 3, and around 276,000 for the Z Fold 3. This is not exactly surprising, based on initial reactions to the launch of these foldables. Pretty much everyone agrees that the Z Flip 3 is a phone most people should get. It is said that around 270,000 Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 units got opened on the first day, on August 24 in Korea. Those are the units that arrived to their destination, and consumers actually activated the devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 pre-orders blow Z Fold 2 pre-orders out of the water

These are really positive news for Samsung. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 received 80,000 pre-orders in the same period last year. So this is a huge boost for its successor, even though it received an inferior number of pre-orders compared to the Z Flip 3. Also, both devices are in high demand from younger consumers. It was reported, earlier this week, that 49-percent of consumers who pre-ordered the Z Fold 3 are in their 20s and 30s. That goes for Korea only as well, by the way. On the flip side, 57-percent of consumers who pre-ordered the Z Flip 3 are in their 20s and 30s. Those percentages are probably a bit different now, but not by much. It will be interesting to see some global numbers moving forward, if Samsung decides to share such information.
