OnePlus just announced OxygenOS 13
OnePlus and Oppo have been really close over the years; they share the same parent company, after all. They started sharing so many resources that a merger seemed inevitable. The two companies officially merged late last year, and they both expressed an interest in combining OxygenOS and ColorOS into one Android skin. Because of this, we got word that there will be no more standalone versions of either Android skin. However, in a surprising twist, OnePlus announced OxygenOS in a forum post. The company is going to be hosting an Open Ears Forum (OEF) where it will talk about OxygenOS 13 and other topics. OnePlus is looking for feedback about what the software should be, so it’s calling on its users. The OEF will be an opportunity for people outside of OnePlus to talk about what they want from the software. It will open up the floor to people who want to have direct conversations with the software developers. While there will be multiple topics to discuss, the biggest one is going to be Oxygen OS13. It’s going to be a bit exclusive, as there’s an application process. It’s not like the process for getting the OnePlus Buds early, however. All you have to do is enter your email address, your OnePlus Community username, and agree to sign a non-disclosure agreement. submitting the application won’t guarantee you a spot on the OEF, so be aware of that. If you’re selected, then you’ll be able to talk to the developers and maybe get some insider information.
When will this even happen?
If you’re interested in seeing the developers for OxygenOS13, it will be happening on February 28th. It will be happening at 7:30 AM EST. You have until February 18th to submit your application. Right now, we don’t know what will be different in the final release. Only time will tell.
