OPPO will start using its own SoC in smartphone in 2024
It seems like this has been in the works for quite some time now. The tipster says that thousands of people are working on that processor, and that both he and the industry are “optimistic” about this processor. He did not share any more details about the chip, though. We don’t know if this is a flagship SoC, or perhaps a mid-range one. Based on what Apple and Google did in the past, OPPO may be looking to deliver a high-end chip too. We’ll see. OPPO has been doing great work for years. The company’s devices have proven themselves in both Chinese and global markets. The OPPO Find X5 Pro is a true powerhouse flagship smartphone with outstanding cameras. The Find N2 is a truly refreshing foldable, and perhaps the foldable form factor other companies should go for too.

It will be interesting to see what will the company do in the chip department. OPPO’s fast charging is well-known, as are the company’s smartphones. ColorOS also improved quite a bit over the years. Saying that OPPO became one of the largest smartphone OEMs out there could not be more true. That is also a sister company to both Vivo and OnePlus, and they do share tech between them, so… there you go. Let’s hope we’ll get more information about this chip in the near future, but it’s nice to see more competition is coming. We presume OPPO will use this processor in its own devices, at least at first.
