This year, we’re actually expecting to see some hardware announced. That’s not typical of Google, as they typically spend I/O talking about software and such. India makes Type-C a mandatory charging port for smartphones, smartwatches & laptops As a reminder, the EU’s Type-C mandate will go into effect on December 28, 2024, thus forcing Apple to start using Type-C charging on its iPhones. The Indian government asked electronic manufacturers to make Type-C a standard by 2025. Now, this rule does apply to smartphones, smartwatches, and laptops. Some devices are exempt from this, though. According to 91 Mobile, Instagram on the iOS app users are reporting having to watch Stories that they’ve already seen. This means that if they want to return to a user’s story timeline to pick up where they left off, they’ll have to start from the very beginning. That’s not much of an issue if the user has only two or three Stories up at a time, but it becomes annoying if the user has more than 20....

Intel will construct two “first-of-their-kind” chip factories in Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. The construction is expected to begin in the first half of 2023. If everything goes as planned, the company hopes to make these factories operational in 2027. It will manufacture cutting-edge chips using “Angstrom-era transistor technologies” at these factories. Calling Germany the ideal location for advanced chipmaking, Intel says this investment will create thousands of jobs in the country....
According to @AhmedQwaider888, the Exynos 2200 would bring a 5% CPU improvement over the Exynos 2100 and a 17% boost to the GPU performance compared to its sibling. Although these are improvements, it’s somewhat underwhelming based on what we were expecting. As SamMobile points out, the Exynos 2100 had more to offer than its predecessor, the Exynos 990. There was a CPU and GPU performance upgrade of 30% and 40%, respectively, with the Exynos 2100....

Malicious Clicker has been found in 16 Android apps, delete them now! Now, if you’ve downloaded and installed one of these apps, it’s not the worst thing you could have done. There’s much worse malware software out there. All these will do is completely flood you with ads. These apps have “automatically crawling ads in the background”. Do note that Google did remove them at this point, but there’s still a chance you have some of them installed, of course....

Back in April last year, Facebook was hit hard by a data scraping incident that leaked 533 million users’ data, including their phone numbers, birth dates, email addresses, and locations. Since this information could be used for phishing and scam activities, EU regulators examined the case with great sensitivity. Additionally, some private data of prison officers, social workers, journalists, and sitting judges leaked online following the incident. MobileX is partnering up with Verizon to launch in the US Now, the press release says that MobileX is a new mobile brand that will launch in the US in 2022. MobileX has a “customer-centric philosophy that consumers should only pay for what they use and need”. It sure sounds like personalized plans are on the way. According to seasoned Samsung leaker Ice Universe, who claims to have seen camera samples from the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the upcoming phone captures more detail and is better in terms of color and brightness as well. The improvements are so obvious that they speak volumes about Samsung’s AI (artificial intelligence) camera optimization abilities, he suggested. “The details are amazing, I have never seen a 108-megapixel camera with so many details,” Ice Universe sound quite excited about the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera software improvements....
An October 21 investor press release by CE Brands Inc says that the Moto Watch 100 is its “newest smartwatch” with an “entry level” price tag, albeit with a “premium feeling.” This wearable will reportedly go into mass production in November 2021. The design is really eye-catching 2020’s Motorola Edge was unique in that it had an extremely curved display. 2022’s Motorola Edge+ brought that curve to the back of the phone. The back of the phone is covered in a slab of frosted glass that plays beautifully with light. It’s really a sight to behold. It doesn’t pick up fingerprints too easily, as well. Another pleasing detail has to do with the camera module....
