OPPO managed to differentiate itself with the Find N, it managed to deliver something in-between the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Considering that fact alone, these two phones are definitely worth comparing. We’ll first list their specifications, and will then move to a number of different comparison categories. That being said, let’s kick off the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N comparison, shall we?
Specs
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N: Design
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and OPPO Find N are made out of metal and glass, they look considerably different, though. The Z Flip 3 is a clamshell-style foldable, and it folds vertically, with a horizontal hinge. The OPPO Find N is the other way around, it opens up like a book, like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. When folded, the two devices are similar in terms of width, but the OPPO Find N is considerably shorter at all times. The OPPO Find N has a display camera hole on both displays, while the Z Flip 3 has it on the main one, as its secondary panel is very small, more on that later. The OPPO Find N is considerably heavier than the Z Flip 3, by almost 100 grams. It also doesn’t offer any type of water protection, unlike the Z Flip 3, at least not via an official rating. The OPPO Find N does deliver larger displays, and its outer display is much more usable.
Both smartphones are very slippery, which is not surprising considering the build materials. Speaking of which, Gorilla Glass Victus is placed on the back of both smartphones. Both companies utilized aluminum frames to build these devices. The Z Flip 3 folds into a smaller form factor than the OPPO Find N, but the Find N is small enough when folded. The two phones are similarly thick when folded. The Z Flip 3 is a bit thicker if you count in the camera bump, though.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N: Display
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 features a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2640 x 1080) main display. That is a Super AMOLED display, which is flat, and it offers a 120Hz refresh rate. It does support HDR10+ content, and it gets quite bright at 1,200 nits of peak brightness. That display has a centered display camera hole. The secondary display measures 1.9 inches, and that is a Super AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, and 260 x 512 resolution. The OPPO Find N, on the other hand, features a 7.1-inch 1920 x 1792 main display. That is an LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Its secondary display measures 5.49 inches, and offers a resolution of 1972 x 988 pixels. That panel is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus, by the way, while it’s also curved on the right side. These two displays have a display camera hole in the top-left corner. Are these displays any good? Well, yes, they are, especially the main ones. They’re both very vivid and fluid thanks to the high refresh rate. They are more than bright enough, and have excellent viewing angles. The OPPO Find N is technically better as it’s an LTPO panel, at least from the battery consumption standpoint. The secondary displays are widely different, and are meant to be used differently. The OPPO Find N’s has an upper hand here as it’s considerably larger. But as we said, they’re meant to be used completely differently. You can treat the OPPO Find N’s secondary display as a regular display, while the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s is a bit too small for that. It’s great for notifications, caller ID, music control, and so on.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N: Performance
What about the performance? Well, it’s great on both smartphones, and that’s not surprising. Both of these phones are really well-equipped when it comes to hardware. The Snapdragon 888 fuels both smartphones, while both of them include plenty of RAM and storage. In fact, both companies utilized LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. That, in combination with well-optimized, though different software, results in a great performance. You’ll have a hard time getting either of these two phones to stutter, let alone lag. Do note that the OPPO Find N launched in China only, at the time of writing this article, though it’ll likely launch in a global variant as well. Getting the Google Play services on it is not a problem, though. Both phones can launch apps really fast, and are great for multitasking as well. Content consumption is working just fine as well, and the same goes for gaming. You’ll use them vastly differently, though, due to the differences in display sizes. You’ll need to unfold the Galaxy Z Flip 3 every time you need something more than its tiny display on the outside. That won’t be the case with the OPPO Find N. You’ll be able to use that outer display for the vast majority of things, and will only open it when you need more screen real estate for something.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N: Battery
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 includes a 3,300mAh battery, while the OPPO Find N comes with a 4,500mAh battery pack. As already mentioned, these two phones are not meant to be used in the same way, hence the difference. Your battery life will depend on your usage, of course. It will differ a lot from one user to the next, depending on how much you use the main display on both phones, and what kind of content you consume. Processor-intensive tasks and often usage of the inner displays will result in considerably weaker battery life. If you end up using secondary displays most of the time, you’ll get truly great battery life. With moderate usage, you should be able to get through the whole day with both phones… but as I said, that will vastly depend on your usage, sharing any screen-on-time results is pointless. When it comes to charging, both phones support wired, wireless, and reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with 15W wired, 10W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The OPPO Find N, on the other hand, offers 33W wired, 15W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. So, the OPPO Find N does have an upper hand here, and it does come with an included charger.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs OPPO Find N: Cameras
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with two cameras on the back, and one on the front. The OPPO Find N has three cameras on the back, and one on each of its displays. The images provided by the two phones are great, but different. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 tends to process photos a bit more than the OPPO Find N, but results on both smartphones look great. If you’re looking for more accurate photos, though, the Find N probably does a better job.
Ultrawide cameras are good on both smartphones, though not earth-shattering. The OPPO Find N handles zoomed-up photos a lot better as it has a dedicated telephoto camera. During the night, both phones do a good job. Once again, though, the images do turn out different. Both phones allow for enough light to enter such shots, though the Z Flip 3 images do end up being a bit brighter, for better or worse. The OPPO Find N’s selfie cameras provide more detail, which is not surprising, but images from the Z Flip 3’s front camera are excellent, and people may prefer them.
Audio
Both of these smartphones come with stereo speakers, and both of those setups sound really good, actually. The Z Flip 3’s speakers are a tad louder, but that’s not something you’d easily notice. Both of them provide sharp sound, and the soundstage is wide enough. The sound output is also well-balanced on both smartphones. It’s a shame neither phone offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, but there you have it. You can always take advantage of the Type-C port, or simply connect your headphones via Bluetooth. You’ll get good sound from both smartphones as long as your headphones are good enough. Don’t expect miracles, though, these are smartphones after all.
