A new Galaxy S21 FE version with model number SM-G990E has just surfaced on benchmarking platform Geekbench. The listing clearly mentions the Exynos 2100 processor with its clock speeds: one CPU core at 2.91 GHz, three at 2.81 GHz, and four at 2.21 GHz. If you’ve been following the Galaxy S21 FE news recently, you probably know that there were indications of the phone using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset in every market it launches. However, one report had refused to agree, saying it will get the Exynos 2100 processor in some markets. That appears to be true. Now, this becomes a point of discussion because the Exynos 2100 lags behind the Snapdragon 888 in overall performance. The Geekbench scores for the Exynos and Snapdragon versions don’t necessarily indicate that gap. But there is some gap and that is enough to upset users. It’s unclear in which markets Samsung will use the Exynos 2100 inside the Galaxy S21 FE. Perhaps the story will be the same as its other flagships: Snapdragon in the US and China; Exynos in Europe, rest of Asia, and other countries. We will have to wait for the official confirmation regarding that. The Exynos version of the Galaxy S21 FE model listed on Geekbench has 8GB of RAM. But numerous leaks and official listings have revealed in the past that it will also come in a 6GB RAM variant. The device will expectedly run Android 11 out of the box.

When will the Galaxy S21 FE launch?

The confusion around the Galaxy S21 FE is starting to settle down fast. A couple of months ago, it was unclear whether or not the device will see the end of the day owing to the chip shortage issue. There were reports that the phone may have a limited launch. Fast forward today, we even have a launch date for the phone, albeit unofficial. The upcoming flagship killer is said to go official as early as next week, September 8th, to be precise. If the rumor is true, it’s not a very long wait now before we know for sure whether the Galaxy S21 FE will indeed be a flagship killer from Samsung. In the meantime, you can check out our Preview to find out what the phone has to offer.
