According to Samsung, the Note experience, even before the new Galaxy S22 Ultra while the Galaxy Note series was still being made, really came down to two factors. Namely, “peak performance” and the S Pen. The pen and added performance bolstered not only improve multitasking and other Galaxy-specific features. But also enabling wholly new features linked to note-taking, on-screen navigation, and more.
How does the Galaxy S 22 Ultra bring the “Note experience” to bear?
Now, both the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3 brought the widely-lauded S Pen to bear. Each also came with what was, at the time, top-level performance. And the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is bringing those same tenets to the table too. Albeit with serious improvements over previous generations. Not least of all, the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with the best specs of the series, just like the Note did. And that starts from its 6.8-inch, 1440 x 3088-pixel resolution AMOLED display panel. The panel, like all Galaxy S22 series panels, has a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate. But, on the Ultra variant, that’s a bigger panel and a higher resolution one too. The screen isn’t the only great feature either. The Galaxy S22 Ultra also packs up to 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Backing up an octa-core 4nm chipset that enables next-gen networking. With 45W charging included for the long-lasting 5,000mAh built-in battery. And, of course, the entire package will see three years of updates starting from Android 12.
None of that is what makes this handset a “Note” in spirit
Of course, the biggest advantage of the Galaxy Note series from Samsung was its S Pen. That’s no longer limited, in terms of its availability now that Samsung isn’t making Note hardware. But with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the S Pen comes with new features and improvements. As would have been expected for a new Galaxy Note smartphone. Effectively merging the Note and S series entirely.
