Twitter app will get several UI improvements at some point this month
He announced that you’ll be able to swipe left and right in order to switch between recommended & followed tweets, trends, topics, and so on. This actually sounds quite interesting, and useful, as long as it’s implemented right. In other words, I do hope that the sensitivity will be tuned right, so that we don’t swipe left and right by accident when we just want to scroll our main feed. This is also a welcomed change as at the moment, people have to tap the stars icon in the top-right corner of the home screen in order to switch between ‘Home’ and ‘Latest’ tweet views. This does seem to be more seamless.
A real bookmark manager for tweets is also coming
The other change Elon Musk mentioned has to do with bookmarking tweets. As most of you know, you can bookmark tweets via the share button. In order to access those bookmarks, you have to tap your profile icon in the top-left corner. All in all, tweet bookmarks never took off the way Twitter wanted them to. It seems like Elon Musk is getting ready to change things a bit. He says that “this obscure UI will be fixed in Jan”. In the comments on his tweet, he mentioned that we’ll be able to easily “create folders to bookmark tweets into various categories”. Bookmarks will remain private, though, unlike lists, of course. This is definitely a better solution. You’ll basically be able to create different categories of bookmarked tweets, and keep everything neatly organized, if you want. We’re about to get a real bookmark manager for tweets.
