The November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for Samsung’s Android devices fixes more than 60 vulnerabilities. The company has been seeding these patches to its devices for almost two weeks now. While some devices got a standalone update with the latest vulnerability fixes, others got them with the Android 13 update. The Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy Note 20 series also got the November SMR with the new Android version in the US. But in Europe, Asia, and some other regions, it came with the October patch. Samsung is now updating those phones to the latest security patch. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are receiving the November SMR with firmware version G99BXXS5DVK1 in Europe. The update is widely available in the region. The latest security patch for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a little limited, though. Both 4G and 5G models of the phones are getting the new SMR but only in select European countries. A wider rollout should follow in the coming days. The new firmware version for the duo is N98FXXS5GVK1 (4G model) and N981BXXS5GVK1 (5G). Having recently received Android 13, the phones aren’t getting new features with the latest release.

The original Galaxy Fold is also getting the November security update

The November security update for Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold is live in select countries in Europe and Latin America, and the company’s homeland South Korea. Both 4G LTE and 5G models are picking up the November SMR. The new firmware version varies depending on the region and the device model, of course. But we can see the build number for both models ends with “VJ7” in all markets. As for the content, there isn’t much to look forward to. It’s only the November security patch and some system stability improvements. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Fold will not get Android 13 either. Debuted with Android 9 Pie in 2019, the first-ever global foldable smartphone has received three major Android OS updates in its lifetime so far— Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12. It will end its life on Android 12. The foldable will also only get quarterly security updates going forward. UPDATE: The Galaxy Fold 5G is also getting the November 2022 update.
