Sure, this does sound a bit weird, but it can actually be useful. If you use Slack, you’ll notice that this is a feature that this platform also uses. It has a space where you can type messages to yourself. The thinking behind this is that having your own space to talk to yourself is a good way to jot down notes and spitball ideas with yourself. It can be really useful if you’re working on a mentally taxing project.
Now, WhatsApp will let you message yourself
This news comes to us from WABInfo. Previously, you were able to see your own number in your contacts while using the Android version of WhatsApp. You couldn’t really interact with it, however. The same thing was true for iOS users, but that functionality has since been taken away. However, it appears that WhatsApp is bringing back that functionality, and it’s going to let you message yourself. Right now, his feature is rolling out to iOS users, but we don’t quite know when Android users are going to get the update. When you look at your contacts, you will see your own number. Under your contact’s name, you will see the text “Message Yourself”. This text will also appear when you open up the conversation.
Messaging yourself on WhatsApp is pretty self-explanatory. You will type in a message in the text field and it will pop up in a bubble just like a regular conversation. You won’t receive a message notification as though you’re messaging yourself using SMS. This is a great feature to have if you like to jot down notes. You can take notes and ideas right within the app without having to go to a third-party note-taking app. This feature will be making its way to more people as time goes on.
