In the Samsung Labs section of the settings for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, you are going to be able to change the aspect ratio of specific apps. This means that you should be able to force apps like Instagram, to display properly on either device.  But, keep in mind that this is experimental. So this may not work as you want it to. However, it should get improved over time.  This also works with other apps that you might use on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 too. But Instagram is a big example, since it displays so poorly on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 from last year. Mainly due to the weird aspect ratio that the main display uses.  It’s going to be more useful on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but it could also be somewhat useful on the Flip 3, since it has a taller display. However most apps do work well on taller displays. As that is not something that is really new. Sony has been doing 21:9 aspect ratio phones for a few years now without many issues.

Another step in making foldables mainstream

Being able to adjust the aspect ratio for specific apps on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, is just another step that Samsung needed to take to make the foldables start going mainstream. Of course, Samsung wants to be at the forefront there.  The other major step is price, and Samsung has done a great job of lowering prices this year. Actually making the Galaxy Z Flip 3 cheaper than the Galaxy S21 Ultra, and lining it up nicely with the Galaxy S21+. And the Galaxy Z Fold 3 isn’t as crazily priced as its predecessors were.
