When Sony started rolling out its PlayStation Plus revamp earlier this year, part of the plan changes were to add two new tiers. PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium. Both of which would get access to a library of titles they could download and stream. From time to time Sony will remove titles from this list. And alert subscribers with a Last Chance to Play card in the menu, along with the date the game would no longer be playable. It’s a system similar to how Microsoft runs its Xbox Game Pass service. Certain games in Game Pass will only stick around for so long. And Microsoft gives you a hard date so you can try to plan completion of games before they’re pulled. Unfortunately, Sony appears to have stopped doing this.

Sony could have removed the expiration date from PlayStation Plus games in error

It’s hard to say whether or not Sony made this change intentionally. It’s such a small change that it doesn’t feel like it would warrant a big announcement. So it could have easily been intended and gone unnoticed by players for a little bit. But it’s just as likely that Sony didn’t intend for the dates to be removed. Or maybe the company is experimenting with removing the dates on Last Chance to Play titles to see if this gets more engagement from them. As without the dates, players could end up having a fear of missing out. Either way, if you’re someone who subscribes to PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium, you may want to keep a closer eye on games that are listed as leaving soon. And play them as soon as you can if there’s interest.
